This is a very festive crowd, and it is entertaining to walk around the area checking it out, our area seemed to quiet down by 1 am. Besides the race, the best part was watching all trying to get out after the race, knowing we didn't have to leave until later the next morning. It was great checking things out Thursday and Friday morning before the masses rolled in. There are trams running to get you up to the track and events outside but I would take a beater bike and lock. We went on a Thursday morning, and it was painless, but those who came late on Friday, or early Saturday were a long ways a way from the event and seemed to get parked tighter and tighter. There were tents that moved in front of us as the event went on, the spaces are well populated. Bring some wood, it isn't level everywhere and we had to move some in order to get set up.

Our awnings were only a foot apart, we "grassed" up the ground, put some tables across the back to stop cutting through, which happens, it is not a campgroud. If you come with others, they will let you set yourself up facing one another, which we did, but again you all have to arrive at the same time. Most though are in the parking lot of stone, dirt, and dust. Spots are all over if you get there early in the week, like on Monday when they open it up, these go fast and are all over the hillside, usually with friends and they all have to arrive at the same time, some have been in the same spots for years. It costs $50 for a week pass, you can park a toad in a separate parking lot away from the rv for free. They have some reserved spots, close to the track that you can buy on ebay or hope to get if someone cancels, but expensive.
